ABOUT OUR COFFEE

Balcones Especial - Chirinos (Peru)

We are delighted to bring this rather special organic, single origin to our humble home in the Jewellery quarter for you to enjoy. It is harvested in the highest elevations of Balcones, La Lima and Cordillera in northern Peru.

Balcones Especial is a very sweet and balanced coffee. The highlight of this
espresso is a really thick and syrupy body. Expect flavour notes of crisp red apple, raspberry jam, sticky toffee and a hint of marzipan. It also tastes absolutely luxurious with milk – experience how the flavours turn to vanilla, red berry yoghurt, toast and cocoa. Also available as a deliciously sweet and crisp filter coffee! Unusually high body for a filter coffee, notice how it sticks to the wall of your cup, just like a good wine on a glass.

Hungry?
We offer alternative tastes to your standard coffee shop

We offer a selection of coffees, teas, infusions (made in-house), and alternative hot drinks including the energising Horizon Spiced Maca Latte. Visit us for breakfast, sandwiches and toasties, soups, lunch specials (including the Horizon Pasty (our version of the Chilean empanada), and delicious cakes (made in-house, including gluten-free and vegan options). Additionally, we offer a small selection of smoothies, freshly squeezed orange juice and bottled drinks like rose lemonade and ginger beer.

Cakes and Treats

Did somebody say carbs? Everything is fine in moderation. And by fine we mean amazing. All of our cakes are made in house, making an comforting addition to your caffeine fix.

We are not ones for the mass produced but rather for food with a story to tell. Not forgetting.... It has to be delicious.

Juices and Super Smoothies

They say half of tasting is with your eyes (or did we just make that up?).. Anyway, we are always updating and changing our smoothie and juice recipes to keep things fresh and mouth-wateringly exciting.

One thing you can rest assured on is vegan friendly options and, as you would expect, all with organic, quality ingredients.

Empanadas?

So what is an empanada? Well... it's a type of baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and filling, common in Latin American and Filipino cultures.

The name comes from the Spanish verb empanar, and literally translates as "enbreaded", that is, wrapped or coated in bread.

How to find us

2 min walk from Jewellery Quarter train station

Come out of the Jewellery Quarter train station main entrance and turn right. Keep walking and take the first right onto Pitsford Street. Go down the hill for about 150 yards. You will find us located on the right-hand side!

If you're coming from the roundabout with the clock and the Tesco Express, go up Vyse Street, past the Post Office on your right, then past the cemetery on the left. Take the first left onto Pitsford Street. Go down the hill for about 150 yards. You will find us located on the right-hand side!

There is pay and display parking along the road directly outside the coffee shop. If there are no spaces then there is a multi-storey just at the top of the road.
